His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is a renowned spiritual leader and multi-faceted humanitarian whose mission of uniting the world into a violence-free family has inspired millions of people worldwide. He is internationally known as eminent spiritual leader and has dedicated his life to serving humanity. He preaches no religion. He teaches the meaning of true spirituality ie to be joyful. His method "SUDHARSHAN KRIYA" has miraculous healing powers.

It is believed that Sri Sri Ravi Shankar received Enlightenment in the year 1982. He had retreated into silence and on the tenth day of his silence, he became Enlightened. Enlightenment also bestowed Ravi Shankar with the technique of Sudarshan Kriya, a rhythmic breathing exercise.

Sri Sri was born on May 13th, 1956 to the Iyer family, Sri Venkat Ratnam, lovingly known as Pitaji and Smt Vishalakshi at Papanasam in Tamil Nadu, India. It is said that at the tender age of four, he could recite parts of the scared Bhagwad Gita. By time he was 17 years old, he had already attained an advanced degree in Modern Physics. Some time later, he received an Honorary Doctorate from Kuvempu University of India. Maharishi Mahesh Yogi was his spiritual teacher.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar started his journey with a handful of people only, but today, he has managed to spread his teaching on a global scale. He deals with various issues ailing people and the society at large, such as conflict resolution, disaster and trauma relief, prisoner rehabilitation, youth leadership, women's empowerment, female foeticide, child labor and access to education.
